Sharing Our Mission with Local Families
With the official start of the school year less than a week away, many schools are having back to school carnivals, parents’ nights and kindergarten orientations. These events serve to bring families and educators together and build community within the school. These events also allow for parents and teachers to learn more about the community partners that will support them in building their learners’ skills throughout the year.
Our mission is to get FREE books into the hands of children around Rhode Island, but our impact is much bigger than that. By supporting families in building their personal libraries, making books available to teachers and schools and hosting literacy and learning events throughout the school year, we are creating engaged readers who want to read, and feel good about reading each day.
At community events this week and month, we will be sharing our quarterly newsletter with local communities to let them how Books are Wings will be here for them throughout the year to come.

If your school is interested in sharing hard or electronic copies of our back-to-school newsletter, please contact Kim Nelson, Director of Community Engagement, at kim@booksarewings.org
