Children's Book Drive 2022
The 2022 Children’s Book Drive is a collaborative effort between United Way of Rhode Island, Women United, and Books Are Wings to engage local businesses, community organizations, individuals, and families in fostering a love of reading, while encouraging children to build their own libraries at home.
This will be the tenth year collecting books. Over the past nine years, we’ve collectively put 245,766 books into the hands of children statewide.
This year’s Book Drive will take place in April and May, ending just in time for summer learning. Individual collections can run for any length of time during April and May – a few days, a few weeks, or the entire month. ALL donations will make a big impact in our little state.
We are collecting new and gently used books for children — from babies to middle school. We are NOT able to accept adult books, reference books, textbooks, workbooks, cookbooks, discarded library books, or mildewed/ damaged books.
Anyone hosting a book drive can give the option for contributions to be made by purchasing books through Amazon. You can choose one of your favorite books or order from Books Are Wings’ Wish List.
For more information on how to host a collection as part of the larger Children's Book Drive, visit United Way of Rhode Island's information page here.
